Forest Ponies did well at the bath 7 west this year. Mesdames Pound & Parker's Moorcorner Minstrell II, Forest bred, won a large good quality class of NF & Connemmara ridden ponies. He looked wonderful and went really well. Second was Mr & Mrs Large's very nice young stallion Willoway Free Spirit. Also in the first 10 were Fritham Topper, Longcopse Elton and Burley Holly. Elton in particular showing a really good free walk, surely a must for any native, whatever it was traditionally used for.
Miss V Palmers Purkiss Summer Breeze, very ably ridden by Jade Palmer won a very large first ridden classs. The pony did a lovely show and then showed perfect manners standing quietly in line for a particularly long time.
The in hand classes had good entries and were a pretty level lot. There were some lovely movers but it was worrying to see few really clean hocks. The Champion of the day was Alison Adams 4 yr old brood mare Maytree Cloudberry. This is a nice free moving pony had a foal at foot by Beechwood Comet that took the foal prize.
Reserve champion was the winner of the stallion class miss Collis's Vernon's Toy Boy. This class only had five forward but they were all good ponies.
The 2 & 3 yr old class was well filled and was headed by Mr P Pidgley's Haywards Enigma from the quality colt Mr & Mrs O Dibdin's Willoway Dancing Gold.
The Yearling class only had five forward out of 15 entries with not a filly among them was won by Sandra Kilford's Furzley Accolaide with John Adam's Hollybooke Rambler 2nd.
