I really enjoyed my visit to Huntingdon to judge the New Forest Ponies on the Sunday. The show organisers were very welcoming and it was a really friendly show. The only down side was the ground, which as it had to be held in the race course car parks was rock hard and some of the ponies found the going difficult.
The first class of the day was the New Forest Ridden , which was well filled with some nice ponies. My winner was Sabinas Gold Sovereign, who was foot perfect with just the right amount of sparkle. My second was the Forest bred Blackwell Sea Breeze a very nice riding type, with Sabinas Gold Nugget third.
In hand the yearlings were won by the mature and well presented Woodrow William, with a delightful filly Bisterne Delta 2nd. The 2 & 3 yr olds were won by the lovely Buttslawn Fantasia with the charming small colt Mallards Wood Full Monty 2nd. In the 4yrs and over class Woodrow April Delight took the 1st place above the very nice mare Buttslawn Gemini. Only 2 came forward for the stallion class, which was won by Sabinas Gold Sovereign with Sabinas Gold Nugget 2nd. I had Woodrow April Delight for my overall Champion. She is free moving and a very good New Forest type, just beginning to look a little matronly. I understand she is 4 months in foal. Gold Sovereign was my Reserve. The youngstock Champion was Butslawn Fantasia with the yearling Woodrow William in Reserve. |
