NEW FOREST PONY ELITE SCHEME
Points are gained by being in the first three places in chosen classes at selected shows, the owner of the pony need not enter their pony for the Scheme, the results are collected from the Show Secretaries by the Society and entered on to our database. These classes will normally be In hand and Ridden New Forest and Mountain and Moorland, including WHP, points will also be given to ponies who qualify for some of the Mountain and Moorland Championships at any show in the country. Ponies winning at these Championships will get points accordingly.
Points will also be gained for British Dressage Society, BSJA points and Affilated Eventing, it is hoped to widen this to include British Driving Society events.
The amount of points won per class depends on the 'difficulty' of winning that class, without doubt the Annual Breed Show is the hardest place to score a win, because the very best ponies are in attendance. Therefore winning an Open Ridden Class at the Breed Show will earn more points than an in-hand win at the Royal Bath and West or Royal Shows. The selected shows have been chosen for their geographical location as it was felt to be important to give owners who live away from the New Forest area as many opportunities to earn points as those living more locally, and for their high standard of ponies shown.
