British Riding clubs Area 17 Novice Indoor Showjumping team qualifiers at Crofton Manor

Senior Competition

Jane Cleal, led the way with the ever consistent Farriers Brown Bear to start us off on the right foot with a clear, then followed by Myself with Silverlea Salsa, Jane Place with Combe Jenny Wren and Suzanne Kempe with Rodlease Jubilation, who all also went clear. The course was changed and put up and the second round started. In the same order we all went round again with no faults to keep a clean sheet- the only team in the whole competition to have four double clears.

As only three scores are carried forward to the final results, the IOW managed to get three double clears, so therefore a jump off was called for between the IOW and NFPEC.

It went right down to the wire with the IOW having two clears and two with 4 faults and then we had two clears and two 4 Faults, so it went to the judge for times and the IOW were first and we were second. I’m not sure what the time margin was, but both team’s agreed it must have been very close-it was a jump off course for long-striding horses rather than ponies.

We were all extremely proud and happy with our ponies performance’s they had all gone really well to come Second out of 11 teams entered.

Juniors qualify for the finals

The junior team consisted of some new faces and relatively new partnerships, Hannah Tizzard with Brookshill Major ,Isabel Brice with Furzley Crusaide, Ben Hicks on Howen Suzy Amy Bridgett on Combe Tom Tom  finished the first round on a total score of 4 faults.  After a quick course change round two was underway. Another three lovely clear rounds from Hannah, Ben & Amy put the team in joint first place with Purbeck, so it was down to a jump off.

At this point the mum’s and helper’s had higher heart rates than the juniors, with Lyn jumping Ben’s round for him and Mel unable to watch much of Amy’s round.

But they put in foot perfect performances and all went clear in super fast times and went on to WIN and Qualify to go to the BRC Champs at Hartpury in April along with the senior dressage team- Tash Smith on Wayland Crescendo, Sarah Goddard- Hurstfield Billy Bigalo, Sophie Albery – Wayland Arabesque and Jane Place with Combe Jenny Wren.

Incidently Combe Tom Tom and Jenny Wren are full brother and sister bred by the Misses Carter and Parrett- a wonderful achievement to have brother and sister competing in two disciplines at the same championships
