The New Forest Pony Enthusiasts Riding Club have got off to a flying start for 2007. The qualifier held at Crofton Manor, Stubbington had very wet and windy conditions, so much so that the warm up area was under water and therefore not usable. However this did not deter our intrepid New Forest ponies from putting in brilliant performances in the indoor arena- the senior team being one of only two teams out of 17 to finish on a zero score. This resulted in a very exciting jump off against the clock for all four members of each team: Chilworth and NFPEC with the best three scores to count. Only one team could qualify for the Championships and thanks to a very speedy Chilworth cob we were just pipped into 2nd Place.
There was no actual junior competition this time but in order to be allowed to compete at the championships our juniors had to jump two rounds each over the same courses as the seniors to warrant their automatic selection for the final. This they certainly did in fine style and would have finished in a very creditable 6th place if they had been included with the seniors. They are truly worthy of their selection to represent Area 17 at the Championships and we wish them the best of luck. |
