It is with great sadness that The Society has learnt of the passing of Mrs Shirley Young of the Farrier’s Stud on Sunday 23 November.
Not only was Shirley a long time Council member, past President, and supporter of the Society, she was also a founding member of both the New Forest Pony Publicity Group and the New Forest Pony Enthusiasts, travelling the length and breadth of the country promoting our wonderful New Forest Ponies. With Farrier’s Drummer Boy, Shirley won the small open ridden class at the Breed Show every time they contested it and with Farrier’s Fingerprint she won the NPS M&M final at Olympia, the first New Forest Pony to do so – then going on to steward on him across the forest at our annual Boxing Day Point to Point!
The Society extends it condolences to Simon and all Shirley’s family and friends.
